Dielectric breakdown occurs when electrical stress converge over a small area. Stress control tubes are used to distribute electrical stresses at the end of the semi-conducting cable screen, to prevent dielectric break down. The tubes have high permittivity and are suitable for applications up to 36kV. Colour of the tubes is black.
